Governments and agencies face the challenge of using data and data analytics to understand problems and improve solutions. This is true across all sectors of society, including government, business, academia and the community sector.
And all government officers will have to become competent.
In State of the Service 2020–21, the Australian Public Service Commission reported that in the area of data literacy:
Ethos CRS is developing a program of facilitated workshops that will improve data ‘literacy’ – the ability to read, understand, create, and communicate data as information that informs good decisions.
These workshops will focus on the competencies involved in working with data, with participants learning practical skills they can put to use immediately.
While these workshops will be stand-alone, they provide a pathway for those looking to expand their knowledge and skill sets over time. Topics will range from introductory to those covering more advanced data analysis tools, topics and techniques.
