In January 2020, sick of being force-fed the idiocies of Sky News Australia that are broadcast non-stop in Qantas lounges, we wrote to Qantas. In the back of our mind was the statement made by Qantas that they recognise human-induced climate change as a significant issue for the aviation industry. We support the world-wide priority of limiting global temperature rise to below two degrees above pre-industrial levels.
We suggested that giving corporate shelter to some of the worst deniers in Australia was not a good look and that they should be guided by their own rhetoric and change the channel.
This was the blackwhite reply we received from Qantas Customer Care.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
Your feedback is very important to us, and I regret your disappointment with our Lounge Entertainment programming. As you may appreciate, we have no control over the content of the shows or programs streamed in our lounges.
Our programming team put care and thought into choosing content that will appeal to a broad a range of travellers as possible. At the same time, we are constantly reviewing this aspect of our service and I know the team will want to know how you feel about this change. While we are unable to control the content of broadcast, please be assured that this does not in any way reflect Qantas’ position on pressing matters.
I am very grateful that you took the time to provide us with your first-hand experience, and hope that we have an opportunity to welcome you aboard Qantas again soon.
Thank you again for reaching out to us.
Kind Regards,
Qantas Customer Care
