Working from home? Ethos CRS has put together a list of the tips of how to make the most of working from home during the pandemic.
Start the day right
- Get ready for the day as you normally would. Wake up at the same time each day, shower and dress as if you were getting ready to go into the office. Maintain your normal work hours: 9 am – 5 pm.
- Don’t wear pyjamas or your house clothes. Wear clothes you would normally wear at work.
During the day
- Take regular breaks. Take a few minutes every hour to get away from your computer. Get up, walk around, stretch. Go outside if it’s a nice day.
- Keep hydrated. Always have a glass of water or a water bottle in your workspace. Make regular cups of tea or coffee.
- Take your lunch break at your usual time. Don’t eat at your computer. Find somewhere else to have your lunch.
Home time
- Finish at your usual time. If you’re using a personal computer, close work programs down, log out of your email, and sign out of the server.
Don’t sweat over the news
- Too much information is simply too much. Limit how often you look at news and social media sites. Be careful on Twitter. Avoid Sky News like the plague.
Managing your tasks and priorities
- At the start of each day, make a list of your tasks and priorities. Tick off your tasks as you complete them.
- Keep others updated about your tasks.
- Ask for help!
Communication
- Communicate regularly with each other. CC people into emails. Make sure you let people know when you’ve done something.
Look after yourself
- Take care of yourself.
- Be patient. Be supportive of each other. Be kind.
- Seek help if you need it.
